Verbs Followed by Infinitive or Gerund

Though some verbs in English are always followed by infinitives, certain verbs may be followed by either gerunds or infinitives. The following common verbs belong to this group:
start, begin, continue, like, hate, cease, love, prefer, intend.
Examples:
He has begun to take English lessons.
He has begun taking English lessons.
He will continue to study in that class.
He will continue studying in that class.
