The idea of death is often used in a metaphorical sense.

  • Nothing happen
  • What a boring place! It's completely dead after 10 o'clock at night.

  • They are not working any more.
  • My Walkman isn't working. I think the batteries must be dead.
  • It is not used any more.
  • Latin is a dead language.
  • I really need one.
  • I'm dying for a drink.
  • The end of something.
  • The break-up of the Soviet Union signaled the death of communism.
