Chakra Meditation
Leila - October 25th
The word "chakra" is a sanskrit term meaning "wheel" or centre on the spine governing a group of functions. Some modern writers have equated these chakras with specific nerve ganglia in the body, however, the Yogis who first became aware of them saw them as psycho-spiritual centres responsible not only for physical activities but also open to higher or Divine level of consciousness.
The outward or physical level of their manifestation is responsible for such activities as exeretion and elimination, sexual activities, digestive processes, normal heart rhythm, breathing etc., speech and conscious thought.
The purpose of chakra meditation is to spiritualise and refine the activities of each centre as only this will ensure perfect health at every level. Normal procedure is to start at the base chakra and ascend a step at a time refining and harmonising each centre.
It is not necessary always to start at the bottom and work upwards, as consciousness brought down from the higher centres is catalytic in its action, bringing beneficial change without itself getting caught or being involved.
We present here a chakra meditation and lean towards modern psychological terms, it is an integral study which can be approached from either direction. The benefits to be gained are better health, understanding, and co-ordination between each level.
Meditation
Sahasrara: The crown chakra includes everything there is. It is illumined by the vibratory power of spiritual light or angelic fire.
Ajna chakra: The command centre of the Yogis. You should be able to make firm commands based on Truth. You are the self, the immanent spirit within. Be careful what you identify with, as you will come under its law.
Vishudda: The throtl chakra is the level of articulate expression. Let the feelings of your heart find expression on your tongue. Love is structured with Truth. when your tongue can express the Truth in your heart there will be an increase of creativity from centre.
Anahata: This is the heart chakra, the natural centre for feelings of compassion. This centre feels for all the rest. It is the centre for circulation, and from here all the rest can be fed with the light and love from the topmost chakras.
Manipura: This is the level-of power demonstration, and pure power does not recognize anything outside of itself. Be conscious of every act, Let your energy be as a refining fire. When sitting down to eat, your prayer should be "Let the food I'm about to eat be transformed into a refining energy, and feed those levels which it would feed if I was self Realized."
swadisthana: Your level of sexual enjoyment. By refining this level of activity you do not get less happiness but more. With your partner be nothing less than a God or Goddess, which makes possible a marriage of the highest Truth and Love in Absolute Bliss.
Muladhara: The level of your survival intent and self justification. To purify this level of activity be as the Lord of the Earth. Let your actions as far as you are able be a means of eucapsulating Truth.
